Authentication with Passkey

Updated on 05 August 2024

For a convenient and secure login to Hostman, you can set up Passkey authentication. This technology allows you to log in using biometric data encrypted with a public key instead of entering a username and password.

Biometric data examples include:

  • Fingerprint scanning
  • Facial recognition
  • PIN or password entry

The exact method depends on your specific device and software, as well as your preferences during setup.

Biometric data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted elsewhere.

Note that Passkey authorization is not available for additional account users.

Setting Up Passkey Authentication

To set up Passkey authentication:

  1. Log in to the control panel as usual, using your username and password or via Google/GitHub.
  2. Click on your username in the top right corner and go to the Account Settings section.
  3. In the Security and Login tab, click Manage in the Authorization via Passkey section.

  2. After successful setup, you will see the message "Passkey successfully added," and your device will appear in the list of linked devices in the control panel.

For further logins from this device, Passkey authentication will be the default method. However, you can always choose an alternative login method.
