You can assign a public IP to a cloud service as well as transfer an already assigned IP to another service within the same region.

## Assigning an Available IP to a Service

You can assign a new public IP to any service created in the same region / availability zone.

-   If the cloud server is configured to obtain an IP via DHCP (the default setting for our servers), you only need to assign the IP in the dashboard.
    
-   If you have manually changed these settings, you must add the IP inside the server using our [static IP configuration guide](https://hostman.com/docs/cloud-servers/administration/configure-static-ip/).
    

To assign a public IP to a service:

1.  Navigate to the **Networks** → **Public IP** section.
    
2.  Hover over the row with the IP address. A plus icon will appear on the right.

3.  Choose a service:
    

-   If the service already exists, go to the **Existing** tab and select the service from the list.
    
-   If the service does not yet exist, click **New** and select the service type. You will be redirected to the service creation form with the required IP and region pre-filled. Complete the service creation process, and the public IP will be automatically assigned.

Assigning a public IP to a private network will enable NAT.

## Transferring a Public IP to Another Service

Public IPs can be transferred between services in the same region / availability zone.

To change an IP assignment:

1.  First, unassign the IP from the current service:
    
    -   Go to the **Networks** → **Public IP** section.
        
    -   Hover over the IP and click the minus icon.

-   -   Confirm the action in the next window.
        

> [!NOTE]
> **Note**: Unassigning a public IP will make the service inaccessible from the external network.

2.  Reassign the IP to a new service:
    
    -   Hover over the IP row again and click on the plus icon.

-   -   In the popup window, select the service from the list or click **New** to create a new service and immediately assign the IP.

> Assigning a public IP to a private network will enable NAT.
