You can create subdomains for any existing domain added to your Hostman dashboard.

#### Keep in mind:

- To set a TXT record for a subdomain (including SPF and DKIM), create this records for the main domain.
- Subdomains use the same nameservers as the main domain.

> [!NOTE]
> Currently, it is not possible to change the nameservers for a subdomain.

## Creating a Subdomain

To create a subdomain:

1. Go to the **Domains and SSL** section and click on the domain.

2. Move to the **Subdomains** tab and click **Create**.

3. Specify the subdomain and the IP address to be used as the subdomain's A record. You can:

- Choose one of the services on the account.

- Manually enter an IP address.

- Specify no IP address—in this case, an A record for the subdomain will not be created.

5. Click **Add**.

## Subdomain DNS Records

DNS records for a subdomain are managed exactly the same as for the main domain.

> [!NOTE]
> You cannot change the nameservers for a subdomain. The subdomain will use the same nameservers as the main domain.

To edit DNS records of a subdomain:

1. Go to the **Domains and SSL** section and click on the main domain.

2. Go to the **DNS** tab.

3. Select the subdomain from the dropdown list.

You can edit existing records, delete them, and add new ones as described in the [Manage DNS Records](https://hostman.com/docs/domains/manage-dns/) article.

## Linking Subdomains to Services

You can change the service to which the subdomain is linked. This essentially means changing the A record for the subdomain. This can be done in two ways:

- **In the DNS editor**:

    1. Go to the **Domains and SSL** section and click on the main domain.

    2. Go to the **DNS** tab.

    3. Select the subdomain from the dropdown list.

    4. Edit the A record (or create one) and set the desired service or IP address as its value.
- **Using the Change Server option**:

    1. Go to the **Domains and SSL** section and click on the main domain.
    2. Go to the **Subdomains** tab.
    3. Click the three dots next to the subdomain and select **Change Server**.

1. 4. Select a Hostman service or manually enter an IP address you want to link the subdomain to.

    5. Save the changes.
