[Projects](https://my.hostman.com/projects) are logical sections of the dashboard that allow you to group services by purpose and function.

Projects do not affect the technical operation of your services: they do not configure how services interact or change their settings. Their purpose is to keep the dashboard organized and provide a clear overview of which resources belong together.

You can add servers, cloud services, mailboxes, and domains to projects.

## Why Use Projects

-   **Logical grouping of services**

Projects help you organize services into meaningful groups.

For example, you can add a server, a cloud database, S3 storage, and a domain related to your website into a “Website” project. This makes your infrastructure easier to understand by clearly showing which resources belong to a specific product, application, or task.

-   **Access control**

Projects simplify access management within your team.

If you host multiple applications on Hostman and each one is managed by a different team, you can group each application’s services into a separate project and [grant project access](https://hostman.com/docs/account/iam/user-management/) only to the employees responsible for that application. This helps restrict access to unrelated resources and reduces the risk of mistakes.

-   **Infrastructure visualization**

Each project includes an [infrastructure diagram](https://hostman.com/docs/account/projects/infrastructure-diagram/) that shows the relationships between the added services.

This diagram makes it easier to understand how the project is structured, which is especially helpful when working in a team or handing tasks over to others.

-   **Cost transparency**

Projects make it easier to track expenses and plan your budget.
